Girls State is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary.

It is an Americanism program that stresses, GOD AND COUNTRY.

It is a week long study of Virginia Government.

There are special activities and classes such as: women in government, judiciary, public speaking, public service, newspaper publishing, parliamentary procedure, activism in art, chorus, band and several athletic activities (delegates may take part in only one).

There is a talent night if the delegate is interested in auditioning. All counselors, including the director, are volunteers.

It is like no other camp you might have attended.

There is very little, if any free time. No one leaves the campus.

There is a lot of walking so bring comfortable shoes.
